Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Massage Lymphatic Drainage, commonly known as Manual Lymphatic Drainage, is used to successfully manipulate a blocked area within the lymphatic system. In the event of a blocked system, the white fluid called lymph, becomes stagnated causing certain areas such as arms and legs to swell, (known as lymphedema).
Massage helps clear blocked areas by providing light, gentle circular movements that allows lymph fluid to move freely throughout the body and drain properly. Slow and rhythmic circular massage strokes allows a pumping actions mimicking that of the lymphatic system.
Properly assisting lymph drainage helps eliminate excess waste, toxins, and water from soft tissues. Light pressure treatment ensures that the massage session should not be painful, and a session should last half an hour to an hour.
Benefits of Manual Lymphatic Drainage:
- pre and post surgery edema
- scar tissue regeneration
- sports injuries
- reduce edema and local puffiness
- improve immune system
- promotes relaxation
- reduces stress
